I admire a lot of what went into this goofy-ass, quasi-episodic Appalachia folk odyssey. (While there are certainly dealings with witches and devils-incarnate and hoodoo and whathaveyou, I wouldn't go so far as to call it horror.) With this and The Enchanted being a little slower, a little less horror, a little more Americana, it makes sense that they are served here on the same platter. (If I'm being honest, I'm between a 3.5 and a 4. I'm realistically probably closer to a 3.5, but in the abstract wrapped up in its whimsies, my heart flutters nearer 4, so here we are.)
