a review of 女巫布莱尔2：影子之书

HOOPTOBER 4.0 NIGHT FOUR + PODCAST MACABRE 2025 CATEGORY 42: 2000s NOT SEEN Another franchise sequel that I'd overlooked on initial release but decided to check off this year. I'm admittedly not as high as some people on the original BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, but on a recent re-watch I found more to admire about the first movie even if I still think it's fundamentally incomplete as a self-contained film versus the multi-media "event" that was sold to the viewing public in 1999. By contrast, in totally jettisoning the documentary conceit in favor of an MTV Real World/Scream-genic cast of 20somethings BW2 effectively removes the series' entire reason to be. Instead of commenting on the state of popular culture and putting a different lens on it, this movie is just more of the same. It's a missed opportunity, and deservedly killed the franchise until the release of 2016's BLAIR WITCH, which I haven't seen but probably will just for the sake of completism.
