1ST ANNUAL CRITERION CHALLENGE WEEK 23: Documentaries This movie is brilliant not only in terms of constructing an indelible document of NYC's drag ball scene (with all of the angles on gay/trans/black/latinx/etc. life that includes), but also in how it makes all of that feel universal to anybody who has ever felt excluded from mainstream society, while also pulling no punches about the AIDS crisis or the everyday violence that still threatens LGBTQ people's lives.
