HOOPTOBER XII NIGHT THIRTY: Still a great and unexpectedly subtle Gothic ghost story that keeps you guessing about the nature of what's happening all the way to the end. One of these days I really need to read Shirley Jackson's original novel, but Wise's ever-so-patient direction feels novelistic in how its reveals the interiority of the main characters without ever feeling bogged down in exposition. A true classic of both the genre and the medium!
