HOOPTOBER ONE NIGHT TWELVE: + PODCAST MACABRE 2022 HORROR CHALLENGE #42: FROM THE 2000S YOU HAVE NOT SEEN BEFORE Somehow I managed to see Scream 1 & 2 around the time they came out on video, as well as Scream 4 in the theater, but totally missed Scream 3, so this one was fairly new to me. This one feels maybe the least Scream-like of the original run, with the addition of some quasi-supernatural psychological elements that were most definitely not part of the first two. There's a few scenes and character cameos that feel sort of baffling to me, but in a way that feels less like a studio note and more like the screenwriter was trying to recapture something from the previous movies and not quite getting the mixture right. But I do appreciate how they were able to sneak in a little bit of commentary on the Hollywood "casting couch" in the middle of a Weinstein-produced film, just to show how much the monsters were operating in plain sight prior to #metoo.
