2020 Cult Movie Challenge Week 14: '50s Sci-Fi Week Some of the underwater action in this is truly breathtaking, not just for its time, but it stands up against similar sequences from movies shot much later and at a higher budget. I'm watching the whole Bond franchise right now and found the underwater scuba-diver battles in those to be kind of a bore (EDIT: Apparently the big scuba scene in Thunderball was literally directed by Ricou Browning, the actor in the Creature suit here. Ironic!), but the way the fight scenes in CftBL are shot and edited feels much more exciting and dangerous, especially when you realize that the Creature's just a stunt performer doing all this without an air tank.
