2021 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 11: JACKIE CHAN WEEK This is my second time watching this one, and the new Criterion remaster is light-years better looking than the well-worn VHS copy I rented in college. In terms of the story and direction, it's a little slower than I remembered, but the stunt sequences are still pretty thrilling. I'd completely forgotten that the last 12 minutes of PS are basically Jackie Chan breaking so much glass that it's like he wants to destroy the very concept of glass, like on a fundamental Platonic level. It also literally ends with his character going fully berserk and punching an elderly mobster in the stomach 100 times and then having to be restrained like a wild animal. No funny epilogue with him and his girlfriend going out for ice cream after, just anger and pain followed by stunt bloopers and Jackie singing the PS theme song. It's pretty wild.
