无仁义之战2:广岛死斗篇 - 评论

Feb 6/28: Yakuza Papers, Vol. 2: Deadly Fight in Hiroshima (Mubi) This one had a bit more splash and flair for me than the previous one, and it really made a difference. I liked the added desperation of the main character Yamanaka, and how they contrasted him against Hirono as somebody without much in the way of nobler, more socially-constructive aspirations, but just a thirst for revenge. I get the sense that Fukasaku and the screenwriters were using this installment as a means of raising the stakes for the following films, by showing Yamanaka as sort of the hard-luck Goofus to Hirono's Gallant. My only real caveat was the comparative lack of an meaty role for Meiko Kaji as Yamanaka's main squeeze. It's Lady freaking Snowblood, people! Let her do something interesting. But still so far, so good; The third installment is going to expire in a few days on Mubi, so I'll make sure to catch it before it does.
