HOOPTOBER ONE NIGHT TWO: + PODCAST MACABRE HORROR CHALLENGE #23: WRITTEN/DIRECTED BY ROGER CORMAN A fun and atmospheric exercise in gothic horror, and I believe this is among the first real Lovecraft adaptations to come out of Hollywood. Corman really stretches the AIP budget for the luxurious sets and special effects work, which are amazingly effective for the era. It might not be as instantly iconic as some of the other movies in Corman's Poe cycle (especially given that this has the most tenuous relation to Poe's work) but I was still transported by the look and feel.
