a review of 超速魔侠

2020 Cult Movie Challenge Week 49: Religious Horror Week I wasn't expecting this one to have this much of a horror-comedy vibe, but it was more or less exactly what I think the movie needed to keep things fairly light amidst the legitimately chilling evil and havoc wreaked by Julian Sands as the title character. The early romantic hero turn for Richard E. Grant is also a nice surprise and a fun contrast to the less heroic roles that I tend to associate him with. I'm curious to see more things with Lori Singer, who I only remember seeing before in Footloose; Her character gets saddled with a rapid-aging curse that gets dispelled about 2/3 of the way through the movie, and in spite of the apparent superfluousness of the subplot to the film she manages to make the most of it. I might have to seek out the sequels to this one for future Cult Movie Challenge weeks or even Hooptober next year, although I do notice that the third one doesn't seem to be tied into the other two by anything other than the title.
