2021 Cult Movie Challenge Week 3: '50s Sci-Fi Week Movie #2 This one is clearly done on a bit of a shoestring compared to my first selection, The War of the Worlds (1953), but I think the decision to shrink the POV down to the experiences of the plucky kid-scientist main character serves the story really well. There are visual moments in this movie that feel like attempts to mimic German expressionism, with interestingly photographed sets and off-kilter angles, and it does a good job of concealing how little money they had to do it all.
