麦基与尼基 - 评论

I was embarrassed to tell my wife that the reason I just made an audible noise of frustration was because I'd been slowly writing a review for this movie for like an hour and a half but my phone went to sleep when I took a few bites of peach cobbler and then I unlocked it and the Letterboxd app had somehow decide to leave the edit screen and save nothing of it. I'd written about how when the movie ended, I said "Pretty good!" in what I thought was a cooly casual yet enthusiastic manner but then my good friend Jesse threw it back at me - "Pretty good?!" - like I had just broken his heart (he loved the movie). I wrote about how Peter Falk and Nick Cassavetes are effortlessly charming together; how Elaine May's direction is breezy and confident; how scenes alternate between tense and tender, yet often humorous. And Ned Beatty...c'mon! I sang its praises and was going to end with how, really, my biggest issue with the movie was: Am I Nicky?
