I watched the first Critters film and this feels like a step down from that not-so-great production. It seems like they considered the aliens of the title to be a way to generate unlimited profits, so they dropped them into a story that's part after-school special, part splatterfest, and I didn't think it was such a good idea. Some of the acting was kind of good, but then the script would undercut the character and thus frustrate the audience. I heard that Critters 2 is better than this but I'm not super motivated to search it out.
