a review of 我们得做些什么
"Snakes are just bats that can't fly." The movie begins with a nuclear family taking shelter from a massive storm in their fortress-like master bathroom. They become trapped when something bars the door, allowing only a glimpse into the outside world. They wait, through the following day, their cell phones now dead, unable to find a way out of the room. The next day no-one comes and then the next. But as the film progresses we learn there's something more than just a fallen tree outside the door. The movie lulls you through the first act as we watch the family squabble. It feels as if we're just waiting for the dad to give in to his inner Jack Torrence. Whether that does or does not happen, his outbursts are just one of a litany of problems plaguing this family. I'm not generally terrified by moments in horror movies. I recognize them, but it's exceedingly rare for me to feel them on a visceral level. So, when a moment sneaks up on me and shakes me like a Raggedy Ann doll, it becomes special to me.
