2021 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 21: '80S TEEN COMEDY WEEK For this week, I went in a slightly different direction with the Teen Comedy theme by going with burgeoning '80s subgenre of old people behaving like young people (and vice versa). I found this movie really frustrating, mainly in terms of it being a pure bait-and-switch; In spite of being the marquee name on the movie, George Burns' character spends most of the running time in a coma, effectively discarding fully half of its own body-swap premise. Instead we get about 80 minutes of Charlie Schlatter (doing a Burns impression that comes across more as a proto-Urkel "elderly teenager" than anything resembling Burns' actual comedic persona) becoming the big man on campus, while being curiously unconcerned about whether Burns' old and decrepit body dies in the ICU while their bodies are switched. It's weird that the filmmakers put this inherent ticking-clock plot device into their movie and immediately forget about it, giving the whole middle section of the movie a weird lack of urgency or direction.
