HOOPTOBER 4.0 NIGHT TWENTY-ONE: Saw this one in a packed theater with failing AC during the first warm weekend of the spring, which brought kind of a "4D" experience to this first watch. Though marketed as a vampire flick, this movie has SO MUCH MORE on its mind that the slow burn introduction to the characters and setting over the first half was felt natural and unhurried. The touches of humor and magical realism throughout also made it an amazing experience to see with a crowd. One of the best of the year in any genre, and I hope to see it recognized come awards time.
