a review of 死亡空间:坍塌
Disappointing prequel to the 2008 video game. Given the state of the Ishimura when the franchise’s primary protagonist Isaac Clarke found it, this is a simple slaughterfest that doesn’t really offer anything narratively in the way of characters to latch onto or interesting new lore tidbits. It didn’t really need to though. All it truly needed to deliver on was the shock and horror. Unfortunately, the action is pretty boring. I do applaud it for having the guts to going full send on the whole adult animation conceit however with its heavy gore, profanity, and even a surprising bit of hand-drawn full-frontal male nudity. Sadly, they don’t allow it to rise past being little more than a lackluster tie-in.
