PODCAST MACABRE 2022 HORROR CHALLENGE #1: FILM FROM 2022 Feels like a rhythmic pastiche of early Spielberg (the climax suggests JAWS by way of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS) combined with just a hint of kaiju movies and cosmic horror. The themes of this one don't feel as immediately accessible as in Peele's other two movies to date, but it feels like he's going for bigger ideas and bigger conceptual swings to communicate them, and I look forward to examining those further on later viewings. But for now, I'm still digesting it like a belly-full of random roadside detritus.
