HOOPTOBER, NIGHT THIRTY: Definitely the most immersive experience I've had at the movies this year. Eggers absolutely puts you into this movie's claustrophobic, hallucinatory world for its full running time, and even though it may qualify more as a psychological thriller or artistic melodrama than a true horror film, the slow unraveling of the two main characters' sanity recalls the most unsettling moments in the works of Poe or Lovecraft.
