HOOPTOBER ONE NIGHT EIGHTEEN: + 2022 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 16: NUNSPLOITATION WEEK Contrary to its title and some of the more nunsploitation-y trappings inherent to the genre, this turned out to be both a little bit tamer than I had expected, to the point of feeling like a sincere attempt at creating a movie that grapples with faith, sexuality, and temptation in fairly mature ways. Thematically, it reminded me quite a bit of BENEDETTA (2021) (essentially the serious arthouse version of this type of movie) in terms of building some ambiguity into the storyline, where even at the end we're not entirely clear on the precise nature of what we've seen and whether supernatural forces were truly involved, or if it's all just things happening in the hearts and minds of the characters.
