HOOPTOBER NINE! NIGHT FIFTEEN! + 2022 Criterion Challenge Week 40/Category 32: Spines 500-600 + 2022 Podcast Macabre Horror Challenge Category 2: 1920s Not Seen Before Maybe a little bit more horror-adjacent than truly horrific, but it's an interesting mix of A Christmas Carol and It's A Wonderful Life, to the extent that I wonder if this was a conscious influence on Capra? I was duly impressed with the early effects work as well, and would love to know more about Sjöström's process in making those shots work.
