For me, this has that trash cinema appeal. I can't rightfully call it a good movie, but it sure is a fascinating one. You never know what's going to happen next. The dramatic bits reek of The Room, but the horror side of things is a madcap mess of experimental visuals and absurdist item possessions. The bright colors, goofy humor, J-pop soundtrack, and all around ridiculous nature of everything onscreen would have you believing this is a hyper-caffeinated haunted house show meant for kids if not for all the gore and sexuality. For whatever reason, whenever one of the girls meets a gruesome end they are stripped of clothing. It's a little bit more than just some of that classic Japanese, anime-esque fan service. A scene involving one of the young ladies drowning in gallons of blood comes off more as an erotic bit of underwater performance art with potential hidden meaning. There's a lot of cryptic symbolism to decipher on repeat viewings. At least I think there is. This could very well just be a bunch of silly nonsense. Whatever the case, you won't be able to figure anything out the first time around. That initial watch is just too stupefying. You'll probably get the most mileage out of this movie by putting it on with a bunch of energetic friends. Laughing at all of the madness and eventually acting out your favorite parts. There's probably not another movie like this in the world and likely never will be. Oddly self-aware and cartoonish, but indulgent in gruesome demises and panty shots. An unhinged, original vision that is somewhat hampered by the very thing that makes it unique and worth watching; it's own creativity and stylistic flair. It's impossible to take seriously, but that's kind of what makes it fun. If you have a taste for bad cinema then prepare to gawk in awe. You may have just stumbled upon your new favorite trashterpiece. As for those of you with more... refined(?) palates, well, you'll probably just gawk.
