2021 Cult Movie Challenge Week 17: The Last Drive-In Week Watched this one as part of the Last Drive-In double feature with Joe Bob Briggs and special guest Eli Roth. If nothing else, this movie (a childhood favorite of Roth's) kind of cemented why I really didn't like Roth's "Cabin Fever", which took much of its inspiration from this movie's shaggy-dog structure. I basically checked out of this one after the rape scene, and didn't really find anything to enjoy about it until the last couple of kills when the victims finally turn the tables on their captors. The ending (set up by a couple of lines of total non-sequitur dialogue earlier in the film) is a real head-scratcher, and makes me wonder what it would have been like if they'd actually delivered on that secondary threat instead of just giving Texas Chainsaw Lite.
