HOOPTOBER OCHO NIGHT EIGHTEEN: Really enjoyed this one for how it balanced an effectively-drawn depiction of the UK's (and elsewhere's) treatment of refugees and Sudanese folk mythology, alongside some fairly universal and well-executed horror/haunted house tropes. I've seen some grumbling about the horror bits being "derivative" or "unoriginal", but I thought the way the movie fits the very specific trauma experienced by the main characters into those broad metaphors was really well done.
