2021 Cult Movie Challenge Week 19: HG Lewis Week I'm not sure what's more frustrating about this movie from a 2021 perspective: The fact that it sanitizes the formerly Confederate town's bloodthirsty vendetta into a purely deracialized hatred of Northerners, or how it pulls a switcheroo at the very end by making it a silly "Brigadoon" situation where the South only rises again every 100 years. It may work as a dumb HG Lewis gorefest with some truly inspired faux-sadist scenarios, but the satire here barely makes a dent and that's a shame.
