2022 Criterion Challenge Week 30: Made In Iran This one kind of snuck up on me with the intertwining meanings of the reenacted trial and the defendent's zeal for art and film. I know that sometimes when I think deeply about a movie that I admire it's like stepping into the director's shoes, and I could see the same kind of process happening with the main character here. Great filmmakers create sympathy for their characters, and in turn create a sympathy in their audiences, so to see Kiarostami basically turning that into an unbroken circle here was a pretty nice trick.
