莫比乌斯 - 评论

#91 (April 1/30) This is another imminently-departing Mubi pick that I took for a spin. I came to this one cold, and maybe that's the ideal way to watch it. Basically, expect some outre Freudian/Oedipal tragedy, some fairly preposterous sexual kinks (CW for some ambiguously-presented rape and incest), and not one single line of spoken dialogue. That last part, oddly enough, makes the film both weirdly accessible (for people who hate reading foreign film subtitles) and slightly hard to reckon with initially. At first, it's not clear whether the lack of dialogue is incidental or just stilted artifice; once I realized that it was the latter, suddenly the symbolic grammar of the film broke wide open for me, but your mileage may vary.
