2021 Cult Movie Challenge Week 1: Fred Olen Ray Week Movie #2: ALIENATOR Pretty schlocky sci-fi with MST3K notables Ross Hagen and John Philip Law, Airwolf star Jan-Michael Vincent, and bodybuilder Teagan Clive as the eponymous space-lady terminator. It starts off as a weirdly talky space opera with subplots about capital punishment and workplace sexual harassment, only to shift gears around the 30 min mark and become a slow-as-molasses chase movie with a standard annoying '80s slasher ensemble before we get a barely set up switcharoo at the very end. Beyond that, all you really need to know is that this movie contains both a raygun that makes lightsaber noises, as well as a lightsaber that makes raygun noises, which tells me that the filmmakers knew exactly what they were doing and who this was for.
