a review of 夜半鬼敲门2

ℍ𝕆𝕆ℙ𝕋𝕆𝔹𝔼ℝ 𝔼𝕃𝔼𝕍𝔼ℕ ℕ𝕀𝔾ℍ𝕋 ℕ𝕀ℕ𝔼: I thought this was a more consistent horror comedy than the first HOUSE, which I felt was kind of a weird tonal mishmash. On the other hand, the sequel (which has basically no connection to the first one, other than being set in a haunted house) feels extremely episodic, almost as though they'd produced four 22-minute episodes of a HOUSE sitcom and then just edited them together without really worrying about whether it all hung together. There's even a sequence towards the end that feels like a back-door pilot for a separate show where John Ratzenberger briefly plays an electrician/occult adventurer who doesn't even stick around for the end of the movie. Mostly, the movie just feels like a bunch of weird ideas that Fred Dekker had but couldn't work into any of his other scripts. Which isn't a bad hook for a movie, but I was hoping for something a little more cohesive.
