Silent Hill for canines. Is the house really haunted or is this all just the dog’s way of processing the trauma of what’s happening to his owner? Yeah, the entire hook here really is only “horror flick, but the pup is the lead.” They are able to get a surprising amount of mileage out of the concept though. I wouldn’t exactly call this scary (more creepy than anything), yet there are a handful of good thrills and a little bit of emotion to carry you through. I especially loved the short segment after the credits where the director discusses how they were able to pull the whole thing off. If you’re at all curious about that then grab a ticket, because it sounds like something you won’t get to see unless you go to the theater.  Overall, I would recommend this to those intrigued by the premise as it’s very well executed. Not one of the next greats of the genre by any means, but a solid matinee trip to the cinema nonetheless.
