a review of 浩瀚的夜晚

ℍ𝕆𝕆ℙ𝕋𝕆𝔹𝔼ℝ 𝔼𝕃𝔼𝕍𝔼ℕ ℕ𝕀𝔾ℍ𝕋 𝕋ℍ𝕀ℝ𝕋𝕐-𝕆ℕ𝔼: I kind of wish that this one had stuck a little bit closer to its "Twilight Zone"-inspired aesthetic framing. There's a TON of chatter going on between the main characters (played winningly by Sierra McCormick and Jake Horowitz) but most of the actual "plot" comes down to a couple of lengthy monologues from secondary characters who show up just long enough to say their piece before disappearing again. In spite of the occasionally fun visual flourishes (like the simulated "one-er" POV shot taking us from the phone switchboard to the radio station to the high school basketball game) the movie seems less inspired by actual Cold War-era SF television and more by old-time radio, which makes the whole experience feel a bit uneven for a feature film.
