I will admit that in spite of having listened to a lot of discussion about China/Taiwan over the past several years from people with actual family ties and skin in the game, that I don't really know enough about the politics to have a "side" on the issue other than wishing for as peaceful a resolution as might be possible between the two parties. That said, I thought this documentary was a decent introduction to the issue for Americans who might know less than I do about the subject, with the filmmaker's personal framing of the issues serving as a point of empathy that will hopefully inspire Western audiences to learn more about what's going on in that part of the world. Not my favorite of the night, but a worthy effort.
