2021 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 22: TAKASHI MIIKE WEEK Given his wide range of tones (as well as cinematic quality) as a director, sometimes it can be hard for me to know exactly which Takashi Miike I'm getting when I throw on one of his movies. Thankfully, this is Miike at perhaps his most lightfooted and stylish, combining the gonzo violence of his absurdist direct-to-video gangster flicks with the daffy genre-bending comedy of his manga and video game adaptations in a story that recalls the early work of both the Coens and Tarantino.
