This movie does pretty much what it sets out to do, put okay actors in an adequate action-adventure story presented in a derivative fashion. They had so many flashy characters that He-Man and Skeletor kind of got shunted to the side during most of the story, and bearing hardly anything to do with the main character's (Julie's ) character arc. The effects and costumes looked mostly pretty expensive, the script seems as if it probably had many rewrites to make sure it wouldn't be too edgy or controversial, and the music was unrelenting. It's fine for something you put on while you're darning socks or assembling furniture because you never need to direct your attention toward it. Except there's one pretty gnarly wound in one scene.
