#69 (March 10/31) Although I'm by no means a Herzog completist, I've enjoyed a good deal of his documentaries from the past 15 years, and it kind of pains me to only give this one a passing grade. I think I would have liked it better if Herzog had engaged a bit more with the subject, beyond just repeating the usual mainstream alarmism about social media, automation, and artificial intelligence; He can usually be counted upon to provide a perspective that goes beyond the mundane take, but here his observations seem a bit pedestrian and defeatist. He's always an interesting filmmaker, but I would have liked to see him apply himself more here.
