MANNVANUARY DEUX #8: It was kind of a fun unplanned surprise to discover that Glenn Ford was the protagonist of this one after watching him as the baddie in 3:10 TO YUMA for my first MannVanuary pick last week; Ford makes a terrific hard-boiled cop, and once the revenge plot kicks in he's delightfully ruthless. I also appreciated seeing Lee Marvin playing against his later type as a smooth, conniving sociopath as opposed to the more grizzled, weathered version I'm used to seeing in his later work.
