2020 Cult Movie Challenge Week 28: 80's Teen Comedy Week I never saw this one growing up, and I guess I had filed it away as just another generic teen sex comedy a la Porky's or Fast Times, so I was surprised to discover that it was actually a PG-rated kiddie comedy (albeit with some semi-adult themes mixed in) that was expressly designed as a kind of Animal House experience for younger teens and tweens. You can definitely see how Murray became a breakout star from this, and he's giving us everything that he would later hone in Stripes/Caddyshack/Ghostbusters to greater comedic returns. There's some pretty not-great undertones to his character's relationship with his clearly younger/lower-status love interest; If anything, the scene where he basically attacks her and their boss laughs it off as more wacky hijinks from the resident goofball, should be used by educators as a textbook example of workplace harassment and to illustrate the concept of a "missing stair."
