2021 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 25: AL ADAMSON WEEK Another one of those that barely feels like an actual movie as opposed to a home movie. Kind of a bait-and-switch to have a semi-memorable Dracula (even if it is just a tall guy wearing a Halloween cape and fangs) but then have a Frankenstein's monster that's pretty much just a dude covered in glop. Feels like a career low for both Lon Chaney, Jr. (who admittedly doesn't have that far to fall) and especially Russ Tamblyn. I don't quite understand the trajectory that took Tamblyn from appearing in high-quality Hollywood musicals in the '50s and '60s to showing up (with weird overdubbing) in Toho monster movies to barely making a paycheck here. Thank goodness he started popping up in '80s cult movies and was eventually cast in "Twin Peaks," because I'm not sure if he'd be as well remembered today.
