a review of 无惧之虎

HOOPTOBER, NIGHT ONE: I didn't know exactly what to expect from this one beyond the comparisons to GDT's work, and it turned out to be much more grounded in its reality than I would have thought going in. Lopez depicts a world that feels absolutely and horrifyingly real, with the dark fantasy elements serving as a metaphor for the child characters' trauma. At the same time, the film's narrative doesn't neatly resolve in rational psychological terms. I think I need another viewing to fully digest it, but I'm very impressed with this one.
