2019 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 26: DAVID LYNCH WEEK This one has always been sort of my sticking point in Lynch's filmography. It's such a weird collision of tones that Lynch has absolutely made work before and since, but here everything outside of Dern and Cage's love story feels kind of episodic and inconsequential, even when the supporting players (especially Dafoe and Ladd) are giving it their all. It's the only movie of Lynch's where I feel like sometimes he's being weird just to be weird.
