The best door in Paris?

Lyon born architect Jules Aimé Lavirotte, together with ceramist Alexandre Bigot created this unique and striking art nouveau apartment building in 1901.

The entrance is famous for its elaborate symbolism and sculptural details: A sculpture of a woman’s head, often identified as the architect's wife, crowns the door frame. Framing the doorway is a pair of nude figures representing Adam and Eve after the original sin. The wooden door itself is a complex, asymmetrical design with wrought iron features.
