In 2022, the Thomson Reuters Foundation awarded Tony’s Chocolonely the Stop Slavery Award in the category “Goods and Services Companies”. This award recognizes companies and organizations who have set a high standard for eradicating slavery, illegal child labor, and human trafficking from their supply chains.

Tony’s Chocolonely was ranked second on the 2023 Chocolate Scorecard, which rates chocolate companies according to their human rights and environmental credentials: traceability and transparency, living income for cocoa farmers, child labour (absence of), deforestation & climate, agroforestry, and agrochemical management.

I’m living in Germany and looking for a good PayPal alternative. I mainly need it for:

Sending money to friends
Paying online, especially to small vendors
Ordering food and everyday purchases

I’ve heard about Bunq, Klarna, Revolut, and N26, but I’m not sure which one would be best for my needs. Has anyone had experience with these services in Germany? Which would you recommend and why?

Anyone else struggling to avoid Amazon because of the price of some things? I need 3M Tegaderm for example and on Amazon it cost 28€ for 10cm by 10m roll and on other sites that are not Amazon I can only find it for pretty much double the price (shop-apotheke.com has it for 58,40€ shop-apotheke.com/…/3m-tegaderm-roll-10-cm-x-10-m… and medizinbedarf.eu has it for 49,60€ medizinbedarf.eu/3M-Tegaderm-Roll-Transparentverb…). Stuff like this really makes it difficult.

Anyone know where I can find this as cheap as on Amazon or at least not much more expensive?

Are there any good single board computers developed/produced in EU or Europe? Something like Raspberry Pi.

Your typical barcode has three starting digits, which identify the country, where the manufacturer is licensed. This does not strictly require the product to be made there. It is a starting point though. and you can do this easily. All codes with the three starting digits between 001 and 139 are licensed in the US

Example:

400 -> Manufacturer had his barcode licensed in Germany

807 -> Manufacturer had his barcode licensed in Italy, San Marino or Vatican

099 -> Manufacturer had his barcode licensed in the US

Still use your common sense. For produce check the country of origin, as often produce is sold under the brand of the reseller. Typical US imports include soy-beans and nuts.
