I wanted try out #deepseek and #Chatgpt o3-mini al little bit and thought: Get your #selfhosting setup cleaned up and those #nextcloud errors.
In a way I hate to say it, but #AI was way easier and faster than hours spent searching the web, reading reddit and asking in forums. And I totally get why that is: I can't expect that everybody and there grandfather jumps to my help. And AI is borrowed knowledge.

唉。讀百多年前的老文獻看到一則記載：「十年春天因爲經費問題，閉校數次」（北大歌謠研究會《歌謠》第一號第一版）云云。民國十年即西元一九二一年，「校」即北京大學。於是就想去查一下相關資料。沒有AI，我也知道要去哪裏找，但是最近AI的話題太火了，就想着試一下 #DeepSeek 。問：
北京大学在1921年春有没有因为经费不足闭校过？
眼看着DeepSeek展開「思考」。但是，可能「一九二一年」太「敏感」了，就像DeepSeek自己在思考鏈路裏展現的那樣，「1921年7月中国共产党成立，而北大是发源地之一」，然後它就覺得，要讓用戶明白「政治事件」「与学校运营无关。」一直死硬不說有過「閉校」，而是說北大一直有在「维持」。然後突發奇想，讓 #ChatGPT o3-mini-high 試試看。本來並不覺得ChatGPT能觸及到什麼中文資訊，不抱什麼希望。但沒想到ChatGPT就很快地回答說，當時有過「停课」「罢课」，以及北大《日刊》的「停刊」，並提到了討薪教師遭到軍警毒打的「六三慘案」，用了一份中文期刊當參考文獻，還行吧。
我都不明白DeepSeek在那邊敏感什麼！

ChatGPT is down for some users and John-Anthony Disotto from @TechRadar is getting a real insight into how it's affecting people. Poor Jack from the UK says he needs the AI chatbot to help him complete some college work due in a few hours

Fair enough.
Regarding the last couple boosts: among other downsides, LLMs encourage people to take long-term risks for perceived, but not always actual, short-term gains. They bet the long-term value of their education on a chance at short-term grade inflation, or they bet the long-term security and maintainability of their software codebase on a chance at short-term productivity gains. My read is that more and more data is suggesting that these are bad bets for most people.
In that respect they're very much like gambling. The messianic fantasies some ChatGPT users have been experiencing fits this picture as well.

We were given a prompt as an invitation to participate in this newsletter: “How are you using AI in the classroom?” While we have accepted this invitation, we are engaging in the most humanistic act we can imagine—refusing the prompt.
A nice articulation of why "incorporating AI" in the classroom is detrimental to education and learning, inducing longterm costs that no perceived benefit of doing so could outweigh.
