He’s even happier now he has his own pile of leaves to play with. #DogsOfMastodon

Some leaves collected from the footpath are now a temporary play area for a boxer dog who thinks leaves are the best thing ever. His mouth is open and his tongue is out after pouncing and pawing and bouncing over the little mound of leaves. Some pink penstemons and orange pot marigolds are still in flower in the garden borders behind.

Gonna run this thread for the duration of his stay. That's approximately one entire year. And I'll update at the start of each week. Let's see how this pup grows.

This is week 1 with me. He is currently 14 weeks. Born 22/05/25.

Quintin is a 14 week old black labrador pup. He's mooching around my living room. Handily, directly behind him is a t square ruler which I'll use to give scale over the coming year.

As he's mooching, he's stood on all fours next to the ruler. This is showing that he's comfortably above the half way point on the ruler. Around the 40cm mark on the rule, it measures up to 66cm.

He's a very beautiful dog, his black coat absolutely shines.

Sometimes we let our neighbor's dog into our house. They appreciate it, and he plays with me. Today, I didn't let him in, yet he's playing outside with the slipper I had this morning. Something tells me that the five minutes I left the door open to take some things out were enough for the "theft."

A Golden Retriever looks out of an open wooden gate framed by an arching rose arbor covered with spring green foliage and buds. Beyond is a very green garden with a kiwi vine on a large steel trellis at the back, and blooming bluebells, ajuga, and forget-me-nots in the middle ground. Roses, daylilies, and irises with buds are in the middle ground.

As with many collies, he has a number of toys (and knows the names of them all - see previous posts) but this is his favourite at the moment. A present from S.
