https://amf.didiermary.fr/art-blakey-afro-drum-ensemble-ayiko-ayiko/
The track “Ayiko Ayiko”, by Art Blakey & The Afro-Drum Ensemble, and the album “The African Beat” (Blue Note, 1962) as a whole, is very important to me, as it is probably the origin of what I do today, e.g. on this site.

The Drummers of Burundi
https://amf.didiermary.fr/drummers-burundi/
The Drummers of Burundi were the heroes of the first-ever WOMAD Festival in 1982 and, 10 years later, at Real World Studios, they immortalized their art with this deeply hypnotic performance.
Raw, heady and immediate, this record is a one-way ticket to the pumping heart and soul of the mother continent. […]
A finger cajon nearing completion, my latest mini-project.
The standard cajon is a fairly large box-shaped instrument originated by African slaves in Peru who were denied traditional drums & resorted to shipping crates to get rhythmic. One sits on top and slaps, taps, etc. – most have snare drum wire mounted within for added sonic brightness & texture.
Handmade from 1/4" pine, bamboo mini-skewers & wood glue.

Hello drummers,
there is a FediGroup for us now!
@drumming
So far it only boosts accounts of people who follow the group. (We might change that in the future.)
I'm looking forward to meet a lot new drumming friends and I hope this group will be used often :)
(There was a Gup.pe group, but the service has been compromised and you should unfollow all of those groups and encourage your admin to block the server.)

Nihiloxica – Kadodi / Black Kaveera
https://amf.didiermary.fr/nihiloxica-kadodi-black-kaveera/
From their debut album, Nihiloxica presents percussions and electronic music out of the Nyege Nyege collective.
The Kadodi rhythm traditionally accompanies the East Ugandan Imbalu circumcision ritual, and this traumatic yet powerful experience feeds the ferocity of the music.
