A difficulty has developed in my small-town area (unincorporated population about 300) of coastal Northern California that might be just the thing for a community-minded (or -desiring) auto mechanic looking for a fresh start. The forest town basically has two businesses: the general store and the hardware-store-plus-auto-shop—both community hubs. The wonderful owner of the latter, in his mid-70s, is having trouble finding reliable mechanics and seems at his wits’ end. The current two guys seem . . . more interested in other things. My guess is that the right person or people, doing a good chunk of respected work, could eventually run things. The community is a mix of persuasions who more-or-less make it work; an even keel is key. Cost of living can be high unless you’re lucky and/or give it time; this endeavor would be more about being in this beautiful place. Let me know if you’d like more info. Estoy terminando un pequeño trabajito. El fin de semana ya voy a estar libre, y tengo muchas ganas de acometer un proyecto para nuestro Fediverso: un módulo de comentarios para Yottablog, motor ya está funcionando y se puede ver aquí.
La idea es que sea un módulo opcional, instalable, y que permita comentar desde cualquier instancia del Fediverso (Pleroma, Akkoma, Mastodon, Pixelfed, Lemmy, Bookwyrm, Friendica, GoToSocial, etc) mediante un botón y un pequeño cuadro de texto.
Se vería así:
Para esto necesito estar en paz con mis finanzas. Quien desee apostar a este proyecto, y de paso ayudar a un pobre discapacitado que no tiene qué comer, pueden hacerlo desde mi Ko-Fi o bien en pesos argentinos al alias de CBU beckermatic. Y si no pueden, un RT es una enorme ayuda.
Mi idea es que, una vez completo, este proyecto pase a ser FOSS y se permitan PR (excepto de LLM); de momento, para garantizar la coherencia interna, prefiero codearlo solamente yo.

What are your pain points, folks? Stuff that you hate doing or dealing with, or problems you can't find a good solution to? Stuff that other people might be frustrated with, too.
I'm looking for a way to make myself valuable to other people, as a way to both help people and also earn an income to feed my family in the process.
One thing I can do *really well* is create reliable software to automate rote tasks, generate financial/statistical/other reports, or calculate difficult solutions. Think it can't be done without LLMs? I might surprise you!
