Our FAQ has replies to three most asked questions. #Fedilab
fedilab
Fedilab continues to surprise me with features that I missed. Open a profile and go to 'Media'. This gives you a great view of all the media on the account—only media, no text. One tap opens the media, as expected. What I didn't know is that tapping and holding brings you to the corresponding post.
Since #NeoDB also has a "social" feature, it's awesome that we can login in #Fediverse apps. For users who prefer to use their NeoDB account beyond just a shelf/tracking/library can do so.
For example, this post was made via the #Fedilab #Android app.
Maybe an old unknown feature of #Fedilab. In settings > Privacy you can enable an option to remove UTM parameters in URLs.
It will work for new messages but you can still clear the cache from the app.

https://codeberg.org/tom79/Fedilab/releases/tag/3.34.0-beta-2
Tomorrow, we should be able to release #Fedilab 3.34.0 in production.
This release comes with the fix of two old annoying bugs:
- Selection of the text that stops working when composing
- Crashes when the fit preview image feature is enabled.
It will also fix a recent crash with conversations.
It will add the quoting support for Mastodon and also improve the experience with highlighted hashtags.
Three dots button menu will now be displayed for remote messages.
With #Fedilab you can see profiles or conversations remotely with a simple tap. That means the app will use the public API of remote instances to get all data that might not be known by your instance.
This is really useful to get all messages especially for small instances.
⚠️If you made the choice to enable remote conversations and/or remote profiles by default in settings, it will bring edge effects with the coloring of action buttons such boost, fav, etc. (1/2)
With #Fedilab, you can customize how timelines are displayed in the app.
For that just open "Main menu > Manage timelines".
You will be able to reorder your timelines by moving items. Hide a timeline by tapping on the eye icon. All timelines can be removed excepted default ones that can only be hidden.
Also, by tapping on the "+" button at the top right, you will be able to follow remote instances (and also Twitter accounts through #Nitter). #FedilabTips
Our next goal is to make #Fedilab fully compatible with the API 35 of Android. After August 31, Google will refuse updates that don't target this API version.
#Fedilab supports the quoting mechanism for long with some softwares that introduced it.
This option is currently hidden in "Extra features" from Settings.
We opened it to #Mastodon in timelines (ie: messages containing quotes), but it is not yet possible to post quoted messages with Mastodon.
Also Mastodon seems to have introduced a degree of privacy. The API returns if the OP accepted to be quoted.
Fedilab already supports this privacy parameter by displaying only accepted quotes.
While #Fedilab embeds its own translation feature (default option uses our #LibreTranslate service), you can also use #Lingva or #DeepL if you have an API key.
But we have to add the ability to let you use your instance as an option to translate messages. That will be done.
Just a reminder that if you change your device, #Fedilab has an export/import feature in settings.
It will generate a file that you can even import from the login page just after installing Fedilab on the new device. You will have an exact copy of Settings and authenticated accounts without any extra efforts. #fedilabTips
