Our next goal is to make #Fedilab fully compatible with the API 35 of Android. After August 31, Google will refuse updates that don't target this API version.
fedilab
#Fedilab supports the quoting mechanism for long with some softwares that introduced it.
This option is currently hidden in "Extra features" from Settings.
We opened it to #Mastodon in timelines (ie: messages containing quotes), but it is not yet possible to post quoted messages with Mastodon.
Also Mastodon seems to have introduced a degree of privacy. The API returns if the OP accepted to be quoted.
Fedilab already supports this privacy parameter by displaying only accepted quotes.
You might have an active Home timeline, unfortunately, #Mastodon instances won't keep all messages. So you might lose/miss some of them.
#Fedilab introduced the ability to cache your Home timeline in the background. This is also useful if you have a weak connection, the app will read them later from cache. #FedilabTips
While #Fedilab embeds its own translation feature (default option uses our #LibreTranslate service), you can also use #Lingva or #DeepL if you have an API key.
But we have to add the ability to let you use your instance as an option to translate messages. That will be done.
Just a reminder that if you change your device, #Fedilab has an export/import feature in settings.
It will generate a file that you can even import from the login page just after installing Fedilab on the new device. You will have an exact copy of Settings and authenticated accounts without any extra efforts. #fedilabTips
#Fedilab 3.34.0 has been published.
Release notes:
Yes, #Fedilab has some differences between its Google Play version and its #FDroid version.
There are mostly due to restrictions from Google.
In the Google app we had to remove:
- Donation links
- Register an account on Mastodon (as they don't want to understand that the app doesn't collect emails).
- Filter some search results with #Peertube to exclude "YouTube Downloader" videos
To Google users, keep in mind you can easily switch to FDroid, we would be happy to help if you have questions
We are adding a visual indicator concerning the visibility of messages when composing. Each color related to visibility can be customized (public, unlisted, private and direct). This option can be disabled in settings. #Fedilab

We are somehow waiting for the next Mastodon release before publishing our release.
We don't want to create frustrations with a feature that is not yet available.
That said, we take this time to fix issues and make some enhancements thanks to your feedback and suggestions. #Fedilab
The privacy tab of #Fedilab might be more for advanced users. But let's introduce it.
These settings allow the use of alternative front-ends for most popular social Networks.
Let says you never want to visit a X or YT link. By enabling corresponding supports, the app will automatically transform links in your timeline so you will visit a front-end website instead of the original link.
Recently, we also gave more control to remove all tracking parameters in URL (Last option)

There is one interesting feature we didn't add yet for Mastodon quotes: The ability to see all quotes for a message. We will add that asap #Fedilab
#Fedilab 3.35.0 has been published.
This version brings a full support to #Mastodon quotes.
Check the release notes for all details: https://codeberg.org/tom79/Fedilab/releases
We will not turn on the option to remove tracking parameters in URLs as it needs to opt-in.
What do you think if #Fedilab warns when tracking parameters have been detected when tapping an URL with an option to opt-in for removing them?

We hope you like the new layout. Details are now displayed on two lines.
The reblog/quote button has a new design.
If you are the original poster, tapping on the quote number will display all messages that quoted your post.
PS: We will fix asap the edit feature which is currently broken.
Thank you for all your feedback! #Fedilab

From time to time, we ask you on Mastodon what is for your things that we should fix or improve in priority with #Fedilab.
This is an important moment of exchanges where everyone can participate.
To see all replies, think to tap on the top right "target" button.
Be nice, and don't hesitate to share your feedback here. Thank you.
We are really happy that #CastLab reached the official #FDroid repo. This was not so easy for us, but thanks to the help of two volunteers, they made it possible. So a big thank you to them.
