…a film of about 80 minutes, published in January 2025, and worth every minute of your time, which explains the left-right political divide in the Jewish population of the US. This film makes very clear what motivates Jewish pro-Palestinian people in the US to protest since even before genocidal war restarted on 2023-Oct-7, and their reasons are really the most simple, relatable form of peaceful humanitarianism that you will ever see anywhere. I felt moved by how their Jewish faith makes their conviction in peace and humanitarianism so powerful. It seems in light of this most recent genocide, the views of this new generation of Jewish pro-Palestinian rights activists are slowly becoming more mainstream. Of course this invites the reactionaries to fight back against them, and we hear some of their voices in this film as well.

Tengo a dos amigos que tienen familia en Gaza y están intentando sacarles de allí. Lo intentaron mediante visados de estudiantes, pero les bloquearon, son dos chavales de unos 20 años. Sabemos que algunas personas están consiguiendo salir de Gaza, pero no sabemos cómo. Han probado mediante el ministerio de exteriores, juventud, ONGs, UNRWA, de todo y nadie dice cómo se pueden sacar. Los pocos que han respondido dicen que España está en la lista negra de Israel o que es imposible, pero imposible no puede ser cuando sabemos que está saliendo gente.
Si alguien conoce alguna ONG, asociación o algo que conozca gente que haya podido traer a su familia a España, por favor, decídmelo. Es muy urgente 🙏🏻.

Announcing Gaza Verified
I’ve been having video conversations over Signal with people from Gaza who have Mastodon accounts on the fediverse in an effort to vouch for their authenticity.
This week, I whipped up a site to formalise this and to enable them to add a verified link to their Mastodon bios. Hopefully this will cut down on the amount of time they need to spend proving that their accounts genuinely belong to a person suffering through genocide and famine in Gaza and help them with their fundraisers.

En julio de 2025, el Gobierno británico declaró «organización terrorista» e ilegalizó Palestine Action, un grupo que ha llevado a cabo diversas acciones directas (sin causar daños personales) contra la industria armamentística que suministra armas al ejército de Israel. Actualmente, hay 33 presas preventivas vinculadas a acciones de Palestine Action, consistentes en entrar en una fábrica de armas o en una base aérea y vandalizar con pintura las instalaciones. Y de estas 33, ocho se encuentran en huelga de hambre, algunas desde hace cincuenta días.
La acción comenzó como protesta por restricciones a la comunicación postal, llamadas y visitas, y los activistas exigen el cierre de todas las empresas del sector militar vinculadas con el régimen de Israel, la revocación de la ilegalización de Palestine Action y la libertad bajo fianza de los presos. Se trata de la mayor huelga de hambre coordinada en prisiones británicas desde la organizada por presos del IRA en 1981.
La salud de las presas peligra seriamente. Kamran Ahmed, de 28 años, lleva 44 días sin ingerir alimentos; Amy Gardiner-Gibson, conocida como ‘Amu Gib’, de 30 años, ha superado ya los 50 días de huelga; en idéntico sentido, Qesser Zuhrah, de 20 años, también lleva más de 50 días de huelga. Las tres se encuentran hospitalizadas y sus vidas corren peligro. En una entrevista publicada el 21 de diciembre por The Daily Telegraph, Ahmed aseguró desde su celda que “vale la pena” arriesgar la vida si ello contribuye a “rebajar la opresión en el extranjero”. “Sí. Tengo miedo de morir. Sí. Creo que esto podría tener secuelas para el resto de mi vida, pero veo riesgo-beneficio y creo que merece la pena”, declaró.
Desde que se ilegalizó Palestine Action, más de 2.500 personas han sido detenidas por visibilizar su apoyo al colectivo y/o a las presas en huelga de hambre, ya sea con pancartas o camisetas.
