I photographed this flower at my home in Sydney as a still life image from a native bouquet which was given to me as a gift.

A vibrant Protea flower displays striking yellow and orange hues with long, thin petals extending outward. The flower contrasts beautifully against a dark background, highlighting its unique structure and vivid colors.

This flower is a Pincushion Protea (Leucospermum species), native to South Africa and also grown in parts of Australia.
It is characterized by its striking, spherical flower head made up of long, slender, brightly colored styles—usually yellow, orange, or red—that resemble pins in a pincushion. The bloom is supported by leathery green leaves, and the plant is well-adapted to dry, sunny environments, making it a popular ornamental in gardens and floral arrangements.
Leucospermum cordifolium is an upright, evergreen shrub of up to 1½ m high from the Proteaceae. The flower heads are globe-shape with a flattened top, 10–12 cm in diameter, and are carried individually or with two or three together mostly at a right angle to its branch. Wikipedia
